Excuses . . . It's Now My Turn . . .

How pathetic!  Two months have gone by since I last updated my blog page!  I feel like one of my unprepared students who's begging for forgiveness with another sad-but-true story of a missing assignment!  So what's my excuse?  You be the teacher.  See if any of these actual excuses "pass the test."

1. Bingham High School (put your hand on your heart) is celebrating its 100th birthday this year. I took my camera to school the first week for some random pictures for one of my bulletin boards, and, yes, the camera is still at school!  Thus, no pictures for this blog.

2.  We're testing our health insurance with multiple trips to the E.R., hospital, and doctor offices this month.  Craig has had gall bladder surgery and an emergency root canal.  I had a weird allergic reaction to an antibiotic which turned into something called Steven-Johnson Syndrome.  I felt like I belonged in some medical school textbook or the University of Utah burn unit.   It was probably the sickest I've ever been in my life, but we're both back to the living now, thank goodness.

3. I still haven't learned that giving writing assignments means grading writing assignments!  Every night I drag the bag of essays home, only to pack it back the next morning still not finished.  Oh, I miss North Sevier's small classes, not to mention "much better writers!"

4.  Primary - Primary - Primary.  Where are all these kids coming from?  Every week we have another meeting to divide another Sunbeam or Nursery class.  I'm spending all my waking hours memorizing names!

5.   Life is not too eventful at the Burr house. It's hard to get excited about writing stories about the dog. How can I compete with all your cute stories of your young families?

Yes, these excuses are pathetic--but true.  I'll be better next month.

Very funny, Mom. You've got a handful of upcoming events to keep your blog full: Halloween, new grand baby, Thanksgiving, Christmas. After that, you'll be wishing for uneventful days at the Burr house!

Sounds like you have a crazy couple of months, I'm glad you are feeling better.

I'm flying back to the US tonight and will be in Draper for a couple of weeks, any chance I could take my favorite teacher out to dinner to say thanks for getting me off to a good start in life?

Hi Mrs. Burr, sorry I don't think I could call you Jackie! I'm sorry to hear that you were so sick, hope the insurance turned out to be good! I'm glad you miss the N.S. writers, I'll try to write with correct punctuation! I miss you as a teacher and wanted to say goodbye before you guys left Salina. It's sad to see you go, but I'm glad I can still keep in touch with you this way. Have a great one and keep in touch!

Well, I haven't found your blog posts boring. I haven't seen you or your family in a long time, so it's really fun to keep up this way! Even if it is about your dog...still news to us! If you didn't know, I made my blog private awhile ago, so make sure you send me your email address. Send it to devluvcheers@hotmail.com

Don't you like that I still use my high school mail address, accompanied by cheer? :) I hope you and Daddy Burr are all the way better- that is too bad about you guys being sick. Hope you are doing well!

Of course everyone misses good old North Sevier High School. I just wanted you to know that Lexi did mini cheerleading this week. I don't know what their advisors do, but I can tell you what they don't do-correct angles or fists, make them wear matching (or clean) uniforms, or have any game plan to their cheering. I just kept thinking how much better any NSHS squad was and Roseburg High School has 2000+ kids!! Miss you and glad you joined my blog family!

Hey Mrs. Burr! Like Monica said, I don't think I can call you Jackie either. It's good that you guys are better! It's good to hear that you miss North Sevier. My blog is private, so if you send your e-mail address to millied02@yahoo.com, I will add you! :) It's fun to see what everyone is up to these days.

Hi Mrs. Burr. I had no idea you had a blog. I'm glad you miss the N.S. writers. We definitely missed you in yearbook last school year. We didn't use InDesign which was highly not approved by your students who took your Desktop Publishing class, okay mostly just me, but still. I miss having you as a teacher (even though I'm in college now) Thanks for always pushing us to do our best. It really did help me a lot.

Do you really mean it? Just so you know I still don't enjoy writing but I am glad some of us made you appreciate good writing.

Hey friend, It is good to hear from you and with all that has happened to you, you do have news! I had no idea you were so sick. That's sad to hear. It sounds weird to think of you at Bingham H.S. but I am sure you are turning the world over there. I think of you often and still order books that I think you would appreciate. Launa is so much your clone. It's really cute!

So sorry to hear you and Craig have been sick. Matt Kjar is an endodontist near Lehi and he does root canals--so if you ever need another one...I hope you are feeling better, and seriously, those kids at Bingham have it good, although we are all better writers. Remember there's a small little high school down the road...
You are an awesome teacher! I let you slide by this time!
